There are various food stores that have gained their popularity due to having the best delicacies in Petaling Jaya. Among them, are the Macha and Co, Rojak and Cendol Mustaffa and Nam Heong Ipoh.

Macha & Co Indian Cusines

Although rice is the most common food in Malaysia, you will miss out if you fail to try the Macha & co dishes. It is located at Dataran Sunway in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Being a shop that is famous for it's indian cusine these are the must taste dishes in our opinion

  • Banana Leaf Rice

You can choose either brown or white rice which is served with acar, three vegetables, two papadams, fried dried chilli and the rice will be flooded with crab/ chicken/ dhall/ fish curries for just R.M 8.90. A must try if you're a curry lover.

  • The Varuval Fried Rice

This dish is served with vegetables and chicken with a fried egg. For only RM11.90 you will have a chance to enjoy this delicacy. It is spicy and satisfying. Accoding to the chef, this dish is made using a special paste to truly unleash it's potential.

  • Banana fritters with vanilla ice cream and gula Melaka

Dessert time! This is a sweet and crunchy slice of banana that is dipped in a batter before being deep fried and then sprinkled with gula meleka syrup. If that isn't a tasty enough, you always have the option of adding another scoop of ice cream is served separately.

Rojak & Cendol Mustaffa

  • Delicious Cendol

Over the years the popularity of Rojak and Cendol Mustaffa has increased. If you have been around section 17 PJ, you may have noticed a large crowd that is always gathered along the road. Do not get mistaken, the people gather to take the delicious cendol. You can be sure it is the best cendol you will taste around in town.

The santan fragrance used in the cendol brings together the gula Melaka and shaved ice in a bowl of goodness that will refresh you on a hot afternoon. Their cendol is very soft and they provide you with generous toppings, like the red bean paste and the cream corn. You should not miss the chance to enjoy the cendol because it only costs Rm 2.50 for a whole bowl!

This cendol stall also offers visitors with cincau (grass jelly) in desserts. There is also a larger portion for those visitors with bigger appetites. To get the bigger portion, you will only have to add thirty cents on your bill.

  • Authentic Rojak

The authentic Indian rojak is another delicacy that you cannot afford to miss. After you try this place, be sure you will have no reason to try another.

To get To Rojak and Cendol Mustaffa, you will have to exit Rothman roundabout then take a left turn. You will find Rojak and Cendol Mustaffa around section 17PJ. It is near KDU which is very popular among the office workers. You may have seen it also if you have travelled around SS17.

Nam Heong Ipoh, Petaling Jaya (not halal)

When you visit this joint, you will enjoy specialty dishes such as egg tarts, chicken hor fun and ipoh white coffee. Their orders are made using an electronic menu and there are just a few taps on the tablet screen. However, if you prefer the paper menu, you will be issued with one.

You will find Nam Heong at Jalan, Damansara Utama. This restaurant is well known for its signature dishes for instance- fragrance rice in which all the flavors are all natural. This rice is prepared by adding chicken oil, chicken soup, pandan leaves and some condiments. This restaurant also has signature chicken which comes from the northern part of Malaysia. If you want a fresh and delicious chicken, this is the place to go when in town.

  • Chicken Hor Fun

Among the must try delicacies here is the chicken hor fun. They also have a creamy and robust broth. They also do serve the golden man tau. This dish comes along with a variety of sauces which you can choose from, for example the pork curry, kaya margarine and chocolate peanut sauce. The pork curry is thick and full of flavors which makes it so delicious. The mantau is very sweet and it is crispy and warm on the outside.

  • Soft Boiled Egg

Have you ever tried the soft boiled egg set? Well, Nam Heong Ipoh is the place to go. They will serve you soft boiled eggs set with kaya margarine toast. The eggs are very creamy and this is what makes Nam Heong Ipoh, a favorite spot for a majority of tourists.

  • Supreme Prawn Noodles

The supreme prawn noodles is another amazing dish that you can try here for only Rm13. You can specify the type of noodles that you prefer. Your noodles will come with beansprouts, egg, prawns, kangkung and fish cake.
